Worship Creates Breakthrough

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Cor 10:3-5

My heart’s desire is to see others enter into the realms of worship and glory that the Lord has in store for them!

We all have our story, mine is one of growing up in an atmosphere of constant ministry as my family had a traveling music ministry. We were singing evangelists and travelled coast to coast in Canada from the time I was just a little girl and all my teenage years till I was married and having my own babies. From very early on in my life, I had a deep awareness of the presence of God and would often times awaken my sister in the night (who slept with me). I would sit straight up in bed preaching or worshiping at the top of my lungs under the influence of the Holy Ghost, or cry out in tongues! She would tell me the next morning, “You were preaching in your sleep again!” Haha! Often times I would sing myself to sleep and dream the same dream over and over that I was prophesying and leading countless thousands in worship! Lol I remember those dreams vividly and the unction I felt in my belly that I now know to be the Anointing.

Yet as a young person always being on display in front of other people caused me to slip into a guise of perfectionism. I had to act perfect, look perfect and perform perfectly. Perfectionism will deal you a very difficult hand because no one can attain perfection, I began to experience depression as a young person, never feeling I could attain perfection, and I struggled with fear of man, simply being afraid of what people thought of me. I can still remember the feeling of the clutches of fear, my body practically being paralyzed with fear.

In my life depression was overcome through the power of worship! In moments when I couldn’t lift my own voice to praise I would turn on Darlene Zschech, and let Darls or Israel Houghton do the shifting for me! Haha, you do what you gotta do right? Worship brought an embalming and soothing presence that kissed my soul with peace. It shifted the atmosphere in my home!

The Bible says in Romans 8:21, “Creation will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God!” We have something that the world does not have, and that is our worship! Our worship is a weapon and our worship brings a shift in the supernatural realm, sometimes you can feel the shift in the natural, and a lot of times you don’t, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not happening! We can shift the atmosphere over ourselves and over others, in our homes, the atmosphere of cities and I believe of nations too!

Paul said in the scripture above, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh!” There is a supernatural realm that coincides with this natural realm that you and I live in day in and day out. Our worship will bring us into that place of the supernatural and deal us the upper hand over our enemies! We worship a supernatural God that is just waiting to invade our spaces with His glory!

I remember a few years ago going to Kansas City to record one of my albums, I had never been there before, but when I stepped off the plane I could literally feel the residue of the prayers and worship in the atmosphere. Kansas City has been soaked for over 30 years in continual worship and prayer 24/7 at the International House of Prayer and I could feel it in the spirit realm.

So really, what happens when we worship? Why is our worship so powerful and create breakthrough? The scripture says in Psalms 22:3 “The Lord inhabits the praises of His people,” or other translations say, “He is enthroned on the praises of His people.” His presence comes when we praise! I heard someone explain it one time that it’s like our worship creates a throne and Holy God comes and sits in that throne as we worship! Where the Spirit and the presence of the Lord is there is freedom and liberty. (2 Cor 3:17) The angels of God attend to His presence and a supernatural space is created! Essentially the supernatural converges with the natural when we submit our flesh in praise and worship. My childhood Pastor said one time about worship, just start out in the flesh and you’ll end up in the spirit! Haha, sounds silly, but it does take a surrender of the flesh, a decision to worship, and the end result is a supernatural experience whether we recognize it or not.

Several months ago I was asked to sing a worship song at a prayer service. There had been others leading in worship that night and as they worshipped I sensed the movement of angels in the room. As I began to sing a song, “Praise Before My Breakthrough”, my pastor friend who was in the audience began to have a glorious vision! She saw a very large angel appear behind me who was waving flags in each hand in circular motion. She realized the flags had writing on them, one flag said VICTORY, and the other flag said SONG. Victory Song! Then she said that row after row of angels began to appear in the background and were singing the song along with me! There was a victory that was being birthed in the supernatural sphere that night as we worshipped!

I would like to conclude with this, our worship is powerful, and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God! Position yourself with a heart of worship as David did in 1 Sam 30, David had lost everything, his wives and children, all his belongings, his own men had turned on him and were speaking of stoning him, when David did something that brought an absolute shift! The Bible says he encouraged himself in the Lord! David positioned his heart to worship, something that David was well acquainted with doing throughout his life! David had a heart after God. He encouraged himself in the Lord and went on to win a huge battle with a handful of men and all was restored back to him!

I want to encourage you to be a worshipper and worship even when you don’t feel anything, just worship anyway! Create a throne through your worship that the presence of God can come and inhabit your space. Encourage yourself in the Lord and fight your battles through worship and prayer. God Bless!
