Fill The Water Pots

“My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.” John 7:6

As we approach the hustle and bustle of Christmas and all that entails, I want to encourage you to be ready for the unexpected moments to draw from the wells of the Spirit. “But your time is always ready!”

And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine,” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!” This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.” John 2:3-11

When faced with the unexpected this Christmas, be proactive! “Fill the waterpots!” I’m sure running out of wine for a wedding feat in those days would have brought much embarrassment to the family. As per Jesus’s instructions, they filled the waterpots to the “brim”. When I picture “to the brim”, I see an overflow pouring out when reaching in to draw the water/wine from the pot. Others will get wet as you draw. Draw for you, draw for your families and loved ones this Christmas. Be prepared with a heart full of Jesus to splash out on others!

I’m reminded of the lyric to the beloved Christmas carol Joy to the World, “Let every heart prepare Him room.”

Just as the disciples, “Believed in Him,” when they saw the miracles of Jesus, I pray that your homes may be filled with manifested glory this Christmas as you spend time with family and friends.

Merry Christmas!
