I’ve been hearing the Lord speaking a word in my heart this week, “Settle.” Maybe this is a word your heart needs to hear also! I pray whatever you may be facing in your life that a calm and a joy would wash over your heart and mind as you “Settle” into His peace and the new thing the Lord has for you. Maybe you’re getting used to a “new normal”, maybe you have even physically moved to a new place, maybe you have been grieving over loss. I speak the word “Settle” over you.
My girls and I planted some early seeds this week and I see the imagery that we are the planting of the Lord, “Settle” your heart and let your roots take hold.
In Nehemiah 8 the children of Israel had returned to re-establish Jerusalem and rebuild the ruins. They found themselves in a new place geographically.
And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law. Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy; do not be grieved.” And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
Do not grieve any longer, let the Lord settle your heart and put roots down. Go your way, eat and drink, give to those in need, look after your own family and continue to build where God has placed you.
To provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a mantle of praise instead of a spirit of despair." "Then people will call them "Oaks of Righteousness", "The Planting of the LORD", in order to display his splendour. Is 61:3
Have a blessed day everyone!
